Musk-Ox Horn and Bowhead Whale Baleen Uluit Earrings

These are hand-carved pieces of musk-ox horn shaped in a beautiful ulu form. The black is inlayed with bowhead whale baleen. They are highly polished to show the exquisite texture of the musk-ox horn. And are finished with a sterling silver marquee hooks.

Uluit (ulu - traditional Inuit women's knife; uluit is more than one) are very important to Inuit women as they are used for many tasks, including butchering of harvested animals and preparation of the skins for use as clothing/sled dog harnesses.

(These animals were harvested in Nunavut and provided many families with nourishment and warmth.)

The musk-ox uluit are 1-1/2”w x 1”l x 1/4” thick
